Default Breached download limits ISP

Hey, I've just got a letter from my ISP saying I've breached my download limits by a certain amount and that if it happens next month my connection will be cancelled.

How the hell can they do this. My original contract said nothing about download limitations.

Chances are your original contract said they could change your contract without notice.

Time to get a new broadband provider!

I use Tesco and Pipex both are good and both have no limits, price is 17.99 and £23.99 respectivly. Although my neighbour has a new account (sorry dont know the name yet) which costs £11.99 per month if you keep under the limit if you go over the limit its £17.99 which sounded pretty good to me!

Tell 'em to go **** themselves.
Move to broadband NTL - Very reliable, fast and not hugely expensive.
I pay 49.99 a month and for that I get limitless 24/7 2 MB broadband, Totally limitless phonecalls AND the basic TV package (for spare bedroom)

Oh - I also use PIPEX - VERY GOOD email provider for another £15 a month

(Usefull cos very reliable and have great international roaming facility)

All goes thru the business so Tax Deductible

I'm with Eclipse who do unlimited 512/128 for £17.99 per month. Never had any problems and their tech support have always been helpful.

Check out http://www.adslguide.org.uk for a list of other providers.

www.e7even.com do 512 for £10 p/m no download limit. If you use them stick my referral code in! 704344 i get £20 then. LOL
They have been a little wobbly but not too bad.

I am getting NTL for £10 p/m for and thats not ideal either...

Zen used to be quite good too.

This shouldnt be the case as the terms of a contract cant be changed in this manner. Of course, this doesnt mean that his ISP isnt doing it anyway.

I use ntl aswell. £24.99 for 1.5m broadband with no download limits. Although their customer service sucks, it has actually been really reliable and i have only had one outage in nearly 3 years.

Hello

As above have a look at http://www.adslguide.org.uk for another provider. You don't specifiy how much you pay / would want to pay.

I am with Zen, and they are great. No problems in all the time I've been with them, and one of the fastest around. http://www.zenadsl.co.uk. They are a little more expensive than the ones mentioned above.

NTL do have download limits as well, IIRC 2mb contract is around 1gb a day, averaged over the month.

What ever you do, stay the hell away from http://www.bulldogbroadband.com as they are a complete shambles at the moment.

Average time on hold = 57mins

plus.net seem very good to me - been with them for a couple of months now - no limit, but they strangle download speeds at busy periods (although I have not noticed any degradation) web browsing email etc. all remai at same speed though.

Think I pay £14.99 per month!

Check for ISP's 'Fair Use Policies', they use these as a means of imposing "backdoor" download restrictions.
