little help ? Adding Terminal Services CALs
We have a Windows 2003 Server
We have a Windows 2000 Server - the domain controller
I've added "terminal service licence server" on the Windows 2003 machine.
I've then installed 5 CALs to it. This was done 3 months ago.
When I check the licence server, it qppears clients are connecting and still using the free 120 days expiry licences. These are now starting to expire and stopping people connecting.
When I check the 5 CALs I put on months ago, none of them have been allocated to anyone, ever.
Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong ?
After reading this thread (below) I changed to "per user" access mode, but its still not using the 5 CALs I added.

Fuchsrohre (its a bit long winded but might help)
You have to have a TS license server which you have (preferably not on the TS server itself)
when installing you are asked if you want an Enterprise or Domain license server (it is usually Enterprise)
TS Licensing is managed using the TS Licensing console in Admin Tools. First you need to Activate the server by right clicking and selecting Activate, a wizard will start and you should select Automatic connection and then walk through the wizard.

swaussie - thanks for that.
looks like I had the licence server set to the default "per device" instead of "per user".
Any user logging in had been granted a "per device" 120 day licence that was set to expire
The 5 CAL I'd installed was for "per user mode" so I switched the server licence mode and its all working now.
Apparently previous versions of Windows server, eg 2000 could ONLY user per device mode ? So when you install the licence server on say Windows 2003 Server, it sets this "per device" mode as default!
