I have just used a damp sponge with washing up liquid on and kitchen roll to dry it. I've not blown anything up yet.

I dropped a bowl of cereal on mine and used kitchen roll to soak it all up followed by a gentle wipe with slightly damp kitchen roll and a dry with my hairdryer on low heat. The keyboard was unplugged throughout of course

It still works ok

Try dipping McDonald's fries in the gaps between the keys - chip shop chips will probably be too wide.

Dishwasher. It'll need drying out before use obviously though.

Oh, and I've only heard about this being a good method, never tried it.

Thumbs up

Stick it in the bath and clean it off with a running tap. Then leave to dry for 2 weeks alternating which side up it is resting.

Did this about 6 years ago after spilling 1/2 bottle of red wine across the keyboard and yes, the keyboard worked afterwards

I'm a bit about the dishwasher - I think the salt in the cleaner might dry and cause shorts

The salt is just to soften the water.

If you go into any electronics manufacturing plant, check how they wash circuit boards etc. after soldering. Electronics components are waterproof, and they can handle heat very well (certainly up to dishwasher temps no bother).

The only hassle is drying the thing afterwards; electricity and water don't mix very well! It would be best to take the thing apart, however make sure all the keys don't fall out - it's a nightmare putting them back in, in the right places etc. (this is from experience...).

Keyboards arent that fragile. If its a cream keyboard - bit of Ciff and a scouring pad works wonders for the old standard cream keyboards, mice, monitors etc. Keyboard buttons pop on and off pretty easy if necessary too.
Black stuff- regular dowsing in furniture polish (mr sheen) never ever hurt my PC bits.
Best idea is to turn the pc off / unplug the keyboard while your at it though.
