Unhappy Problems with a software disc not seen (on OS X)

I just bought Photoshop Elements 3 for win and mac on eBay so I can work with camera RAW files. It arrived today but my Mac (1.33GHz Tiger etc) spins, hunts around then spits it back out. The disk looks fine.

Any ideas? I checked and other discs are seen fine.

I get this with cheap RW CDs on my old G3 laptop. Are you sure it's a good CD?

I suppose it can't be a good CD, but visually under a light it all looks OK. It looks like a real disc, ie, not a DVD-R etc.

What machine do you have? 1.33ghz suggests an iBook or new/lowend powerbook.

Shouldn' t be a dirty CD/DVD lense, I would say it's an iffy CD.....

It's a 1.333 12" PowerBook. I'll try and get the disk swapped as the guy selling has a stack of them advertised.

Cheers!

Sounds like a dodgy CD to me.

Did you know you can work with RAW files in iPhoto 5 ?

Yes, iPhoto 5 was bought but guess what? My D30 is not on the list of cameras supported, the list is quite short actually. I get previews of the images in Finder but no ability to view the image in Preview or iPhoto. Most pŁ$%ed off at finding that. I'm currently stuck with Canon's own utility but have to export as TIFF's before I can work with them

Anyway, trying to contact the seller to swap the discs but no reply yet

Thanks for the suggestions!

Talking

just a tip
if your camera is not supported by iphoto, use Image capture which is located in your Apps folder. it usually allows file transfer for all those devices not supported by iphoto.
