We've got a few Latitude D610 and lots of the older D600's. Funny enough, I'm writing this responce from a D610.

I'm not aware of any problems with trying to connect them to the network.

If you are using RIS though, you need to enter the BIOS and enter Network Boot with PXE. Otherwise it won't contact the DHCP server for an address.

yeah thats what ive tried, its a new bios setup compared with the D600. It wouldnt connect with the network initially even with adding the new network drivers provided (not compatible with the d600s) so i was forced to install windows from scratch. Joined it with the network then uploaded the RIS image. Problem now is it wont download it back....

Pixie (PXE) boot is eabled by default, all you have to do is manually enable the Internal-NIC.

F2 to enter setup then onboard devices then Internal Nic, and enable.

If you have done this already then you may have a faulty NIC, dodgy cable, switch etc.

strange one. no errors connecting to network at my desk, get into RIS but cant see all the images. Try just a plain win image but cant due to no network drivers...?okkay. Try from hub direct to RIS but cant connect, pxe error....

doesnt bode well so far if these are going to be our new machines. Buggered if im installing them all manually....

We RIS these D610 at work. We did have a problem though until we applied an MS patch to our RIS server called;
"WindowsServer2003-KB823658-x86-ENU.EXE"

Stop & restart your RIS service.

We also copied the relevant .inf, .cat & .sys files for the NIC (from dell) into the (image)I386 folder on the RIS server.

They can be RIS'd though.

Mark.

even though its brand new, the driver cd is somewhat out of date so install all up-to-date. copied the drivers to the relevant areas so now it lists it in RIP but still dont have the network drivers to install.

Will install that patch

I don't think we had to request it.

I can e-mail it to you if you want?
