I am trying to design a site and want to make it as modular as possible.

I want a base template and then a nested template for each tab. I will then create pages based on the nested template.

On the base template I have a "menu" and "body" editable region (amongst others), on the nested template I fill in the "menu". What I would like to do is then lock this region so pages based upon it cannot alter that area.

Can I do this? I certainly can't find an option.

Slightly nasty, but you can create another region in the "menu" region and then in the new pages the "menu" area becomes locked.

That'll do for me!
