Hi All,

Prolly an old Q, but what software do I need to run on my PC to allow the Xbox to talk to it as a filestore?

I have just got a Chipped xbox from a mate (std HDD with executer 2 chip) It's currently running EvoX on it and is in working order. He's just unplugged it from his house and brought it round. Basically I just need the s/ware to get my 'filestore' PC to allow the xbox interaction for my movies/music/pics etc.
I have already setup the IP's etc on it and the wirless LAN adapter to allow it to work on the house LAN

that forum thread is all you need to know. you then need to edit the XML file and change the ip's but it's all in that forum link

make sure you can FTP first then go for the stream server.

kinda got it working for now

Ineed to tidy up the menu's tho, as when I go into the vid/pics etc I have to browse for the filestore, then onto the shared folder. I would like to setup those into the root folder as default.

I was able to FTP it earlier - did so for trying to find stuff, now it won't ftp, comes up with unable to find. The xbox still works and plays the stuff tho.
I had origionally setup the ftp to point to the IP it worked then - have checked the system and the same IP is still held.. dunno what's up

I'm only running ccXgui on the PC - should I be running anything else?

Have noticed when running some films and music - it gets jerky at times (56mbp wireless) However I think I may have a ****e wireless dongle on the xbox, i had issues with this one a while ago.. but thought it may have been sommat else then changed eth whole setup. I think I may get Niels Dlink one.

ignore that last one.. has the wireless donlge rammed right in the back of the system.. moved it to a more open location.. no probs now

Standard EvoX is Username:xbox password:Xbox to the ip set in evox eg 192.168.0.9

streaming you only need the service running and not the GUI.

just mod your shares like my ones Music/Videos/Pictures and look on isohunt for the latest version of Xbox media centre. I got a pimped edition and it added some cool features. that version on your box is very old now

username and p/word set to xbox on both - I did check the settings on the xbox and it's set to xbox for those details.

nuthin at all changed from working and not working - the error i get is connection refused by the xbox.. nasal sex!

i'll let you u/g me mediacentre s/ware when ya get back better let someone who know's what they're doing.. this is if i canget into the ftp of the xbox of course.

xbmc update too.. faffed with menu's too.. quite easy really

now got to suss where the d/loaded games go.. it's got Halo2 on it already, doing forza the now.. just gonna work out how to get it on via ftp... where to put it.

Getting there slowly but surely

Now need to get a controller lol.. ain't got one - Joyfrag arrived today
