Question Transferring a PC

We've got 3 new computers being delivered next week - whats the best way of transferring data / programs across from the old machines?

Am I best just reinstalling everything and copying data via cd-r? I imagine all this PC transferring software copies all the ****e <cough> Norton <cough> as well.

Copying a program may not mean it will work as registry entries and other windows file modifications will not be present. Reinstall the programs and then transfer any data you require.

Either network the machines or use USB data or CDR/DVDR.

can you just network em and tranfer the files to one pc, as Scooby-do says you cant just copy the packages over they will need to be built as new machines, only files and the like. If you need to keep settings for certain people, you could try the files and settings transfer wizzard in xp

also do you have access to any ghost (cloning) software, this way if the machines are identical spec (or near enough) you can build up one machine exactly how you want it, then clone the other 2, will also save time if they need to be re-built as you can just re clone them

pst contains all emails in the personal folder, not the ones on a server. Contacts could also be on a server or in a PAB file
