Default Slow

Turned on my pc this morrning and i was really slow it would run a programe i hit alt ctrl del and it showed my pc was using 100% procesor, any idea how to sort it, by chance i rebooted and run msconfig and turned every start up programe off, and seems ok but how do i find the problem HELP.

When it happens again, hit CTRL, ALT & DEL, then click on the 'Processes' tab - something should be glaring at you with excessive CPU usage and go from there.

Probably spyware on your box, get MS's antispyware app, run n remove the offending items. Check for viruses to.

Got n anti v it found 24 adware viruses but cannot delete them. thanx anyway only find out when i re start my p c.

Do it in safemode, that may get rid of alot of them.

Had the same thing recently and it was Spyware ... made me feel dirty and used. Recently re-subscribed to Norton Internet Security, which couldn't remove them while the PC was running in normal mode but provided good instructions for how to put it in safe mode, as suggested by bioforger, and clean them out that way. It worked a treat and pc performance is back to normal.

You don't have to have Norton - the MS anti-spyware is apparently quite good. Also do a search on this forum on spyware and you'll find links to Ad-Aware and some other programs.
