Default BT 4meg ADSL?

Came into work this morning and this was in my email it came with an attachment, which i'm not going to run as this seems a bit dodgy as the phone number does not work.

Hello from BT Internet!

Recently we have undergone changes in the way we operate. From now on you can get a 4 megabyte connection speed as standard and we are happy for all our existing customers to benefit from our new high-speed Internet access.

For ease of use we have attached the new settings needed to enable this option. Please run the attached tool and follow the on-screen options. The process is fully automated so you need not worry about manual configuration.

If you find any problems then please contact us on 0845 600 600.

Virtually yours,

Sandra Hays

yeah it seemed that was as the speed is changed via jumpers at the exchange and the mail was way too abrupt in its wording.

It's only been a couple of weeks since BT upgraded me from a 512K line to a 2 meg line. They didn't even notify me they were doing it, I just connected one day and founf they had upgraded me.

You could submit the file to VirusTotal and see what the analysis is

Yup big b/s, it would never contradict itself by saying the last bit, as the telecom stands for telecommunications and it would sound silly saying British Telecommunications communications lol
Plus it would probably be wholesale who sell the broadband, 2 mb is the quickest BT do at this time though faster services are available on SDSL (think thats right, but more expensive) but there are quicker things in the pipeline
