Default Broadband and e-mail help required

I currently am subscribed to BT Broadband, and so far the service is great however my e-mail is Freeserve (Wanadoo) and this is where the problem starts.
I originally was on dial up when i created my e-mail account.

Now when i connect to broadband i can receive e-mails but not send any out.

does anybody know why this is so.

any help greatly appreciated

Thansk chaps!

I think this is because you are no longer connecting via the Freeserve account. I had the same problem when I changed from Virgin.net

The only way that I could send an email via my old Virgin dial-up was if I connected to the virgin network via my old modem.

You'd be better off switching to use your BT Broadband email

Your better off buying a domain with an email account (about a £10 a year of oneandone) and never have to worry about changing again!

I take it that you are using an email client like Outlook or Outlook Express? As you won't be able to do it from the BT Browser software.
If so, what you need to do is go to the tools option and select the accounts option. It will bring a box up and in the top right corner it will say add. Click on this and then select mail.
It will then bring a wizard up so follow the steps (self explanatory)
You will need the Wannado settings, like the pop3 server. Enter these, click next and it will then ask for your username and password, again enter these. Then click on Finish.
That should then sort it out for you.

I think he may have already done this. With the account details setup in either Outlook or Express then it will download your emails but (as I experienced) it won't let you send them - well that's what happened to me with Virgin

If you actually select the account that you want to use then it will let you send as well as recieve

Outgoing e-mails on broadband normally need to go via the ISP's own POP3 mail server, whilst incoming need to use the mail provider's server. The catch here is that BT don't have their own POP3 servers any more, but AFAIK use Yahoo. In your case you need to find out how outgoing mail should go if you used a BT mail account. It used to be out.btinternet.com IIRC, but I doubt it is any more.
