Hi,
Currently running wireless around the house which was set up by a friend. Router to Laptop (internet connection.)
Im trying to connect the home desktop, and have installed a wireless network card. Ran the 'Windows' search for available networks and it returns nothing, yet the laptop wireless works fine in the room.
What am i doing wrong? or is the network card not picking up the signals?
thanks in advance.

Much more likely to be a security issue. Are two machines connecting ad-hoc, or via a router? Is the SSID set correctly? Ditto the WEP/WPA password? Correct channel? If you are connecting via a router, is the router set to only accept connections from listed MAC addresses? If so, did you set the new MAC address?
Alos, just try rebooting a few times - sometimes Windows can't see a network first time.

Cheers guys. Its connecting to a router, and its seems its a secruity issue. I need to know the network key, which no one can remember!
Any ideas how I can find out what it is, or change the current password without knowing the last?
Thanks again

Do you mean the router Admin password or the network WPA/WEP password? If you can't remember the router password then a reset is your only option; but if it's the WEP/WPA code then just connect via wire rather than wireless and it should be listed in the router properties.

No - just attach a PC to the wired port of the wireless base statiosn and log onto its management interface (or even from the 1 wireless PC that is working)
The WEP key should be visible
If its not then you should be able to reset the wireless access point to its defaults, add a new WEP key and add it to the existing wireless PC and your new one and away you go.
