Cool BroadBand advice please

Hi There

This is a question for my sister.
She wants to move with the times and get broadband, shes never had it or tried it before. I am with BT so don't really know what else is really out there these days.

What I need to know is what's the best deal out there and what speed will she get, I must mention she wont be useing it that much but she wants it anyway.

Also she will need it putting in too so she will want a good deal on that also.

Thanks for your answers in adance

Metronet have a capped service, whereby if you don't use it that much you pay £11.99 per month.. but if you do download loads of data it becomes unlimited and you only pay a max of £19 per month..

but to be honest there are so many different suppliers and packages its hard to choose the best..

have a look at www.e7even.com. only £10/month for a 512k but with the current offer, you will get double speed, so that's £10/month for 1Mb!

if you sign for 2 years (and will have to pay £240 upfront), you get free connection, else it's £50.

PM me if you sign up and referral me

As in installing the modem / router at her house and configuring it? If so, I don't know of any mainstream ISPs that do home visits. Try the local paper for a small ad.

If you have tech support problem you fcuked though. "Have you tried uninstalling the drivers?" "YES" "I don;t know then" is about as far as I got.

Then they tell you to contact the modem manufacturer and if that doesn't fix it they tell you to speak to microsoft.

depends on what account you have. If you go for the premier you can download pretty much as mush as you want, remember though its NOT a dedicated line, so if you constantly download all day all night they may cap your bandwidth. the premier account though doesnt have a cap as such though

150 gig per month shouldnt be a problem on 2 meg

Yeh but all ISPs are like this unfortunately. Seems to be standard practise heh. I'm moving from Bulldog to Plus net soon, so anything will be better for me as BD's CS is non-existant. Example, ring BD wait 30mins for a cretin to answer your call. Rang plusnet, 10min wait, and received info from a knowledgeable person.

Just gone with F2S.co.uk.
£19.99 a month, for 2mb , 10 gig cap.
I had to buy a USB modem and filter, supplied for £79. Plug it all in, install the cd
( 2 mins, 1 click ) and you're sorted.
Couldn't be simpler and so far, all working perfectly.

Well I think she's going with BT as BT are a big company.
They want £15.99 a month for 1GB a month air time, "not much you say" but it's a starting point.
