Its a simple query,
I have setup a new ftp server (internally) to replace a **** up of an old one..
Created the site, and set the home directory to be an empty folder called root folder, everyone has list and read permissions iirc.
Each Virtual Directory's alias is then set to match the username for that virtual directory, the site path drives are then set to redirect to the relevant servers and use the credentials of the authenticating user..
This all works fine, but if you do cwd \ etc you get to the root folder, but as it is empty you cant see other users folders etc.. this is all good and well..
but is there away I can do away with this so when a user does the cwd \ they go to the root of their 'home / redirected' folder??
Before it was setup with multiple IP addresses, ie a site for each but thats a fookin joke!

And yes I know MSFTP is pooh.

IIS 6.0 also includes an FTP server to allow users to upload or download files. Where FTP is deployed, configuring your server so that FTP users cannot browse other users directories is an important part of server security. IIS 6.0 provides for this capability with FTP user isolation. When enabled, a user cannot navigate higher up the directory tree, because the user's top-level directory appears as the root of the FTP service.

Unfortunately it looks like you can't change it after the site is created!

You cant!! you also cant drag virtual directorys between. Not too much of a prob as I just created a new site to test it..
The problem is All the folders have to be under the root folder with user isolation so the redirects to all different paths on servers for the users wont work.
I havent quite got my head around how the AD integrated mode works with the 'home' path.

I've been using WARFTP on public servers for ages.
The interface is a bit quirky (random picture of some women on the console to start with) but it's very stable and gives me no trouble. Oh, it's free
