I'm moving to Spain in a few weeks time and I need to network my laptop and desktop together to share a wireless connection for file sharing but mainly ADSL connection sharing (I'll be working from home and the laptop will be used on the roof terrace!)
I'm keen on the Netgear DG834GT.
Does anybody know if this will work in Spain? Or any reason why it shouldn't? I hadn't really thought too much into it until I saw an ebay auction where the seller labelled the router 'for U.K' as if there are different International protocols?
Cheers,
Russ

Check it has regulatory approval for connection to the Spanish telephone network and investigate whether there are any of the WiFi channels you shouldn't use. Apart from that I can't think of anything else.

Hi Russboy
The main requirement is to check with you Spanish ISP to confirm which annex they are using. Annex A or B?
UK uses Annex A over POTS while Annex B is over ISDN.
Apart from that, you'll be fine.

Thanks chaps, that's really handy.
This is going to be fun - asking Telefonica in Spain about Annex A or B (they struggle with questions about phone lines!)![Whatever Anim](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/Whatever_anim.gif)

All UK DSL Modems will use the following settings
PPPoA - RFC2364, VPI=0, VCI=38, Encapsulation=VCMUX.
Spain uses a mixture depending on the ISP.
PPPoA - RFC2364 or RFC1483 Routed
VPI=8 or 1
VCI=32, 33 or 35
Encapsulation=VCMUX or LLC
You will have to be able to change these settings in your modem to be able to connect. If you can't do that or don't know how then you'll have to buy a new one.
