![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm building a login script to handle user profiles. We don't use Roaming Profiles anymore as they where getting far too big to manage easily.
What I'm trying to figure out is a easy method of identifying if a user is using a 'good' profile or if they are using a fresh one after logging into a workstation for the first time.
Any ideas?
Stefan

2003 with AD, Desktops are all XP with SP2
I think I can do a check for the Outlook key in the registry. Do you know what WSH code will check for the existence of a key.
I've used the Read and Write code, but a nice boolean for the key itself would be ideal.

We run a mandatory profile for all 8000 users.. thats Agents and Corporate staff... SAME PROFILE!!.
Drop me a mail to David.wallis@ventura-uk.com if you want to discuss ways of doing it easily.. + I wrote most of our 1000+ line login script![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Dynamically installs digital certificates, printers, etc etc, changes wallpapers for departments.
I dont mind discussing it on here either, its just easier to check my emails than here![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
However your easiest way is 'force' them to use a good profile![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
as for the other, you could check for the presence of a registry key, or create a flag file with a known date / time or contents.
ammend the default user profile to contain a key? (load ntuser.dat into regedit, but you knew that
)

Also I would write the scripts in kix (use wkix32) as its far easier.. I can use vbscript and kix and prefer kix for the majority of the scripting..
as you can do KeyExist()
Gotta go lift to the pub is here.
