Problems with Tiscali Dial-up

I signed up with Tiscali dial-up Pay-As-You-Go about 4 weeks ago whilst deciding which provider to go with for a Broadband package.
It seems that whenever I want to get online (normally after work - post 6pm),on most attempts I fail to gain a connection.
This is really annoying as I rely on the internet for my business banking.
At first I thought it could be my PC, modem or phoneline etc. However, having tried to get online 1st thing in the morning it gets a connection, no problem. So I guess it is the heavy usage during off-peak hours?
So, do I bite the bullet and go for Tiscali Braodband in the hope that I get no connection problems or find another provider? Whatever I chose I will be going down the broadband route as dial-up is now too slow and with pay-as-you-go has proven uneconomical for me (as my recent phonebill was shocking for such a short usage period).

I was sorting out a friends PC earlier tonight, and they use Tiscali dial-up.
Several times we got the engaged signal (and Mrs BT telling us to redial etc.), so i guess that they are just overloaded at peak times (if you call 20:00 'til 21:00 peak
).

only had this twice on dial up..
mind you if you are clever and can set oyur modem to connect only at a certain protocol 44kbs !! i never had any probs..
leaving the modem to negotite its own connection either saw me never connecting or only getting a 28kb connection

Seeing as youre using pay as you go, in theory you can sign up with anyone to access a dial-up account. Perhaps set up a virgin or BT dialup account?
If youre going to go for broadband anyway, then I wouldnt put it off. Its much better all round than dial-up and you will really notice the benefits.
