Hi,
I keep getting a pop in the middle of the screen in a grey box, under the tittle of 'messenger service'. It claims I have to go to www.pcregistryfix.co.uk to sort it out, or sometimes a website along the line of www.bug-cleaner.com.
I have ran spybot, that has not found it, nor as Norton. Google toolbar lets it through as well.
Any idea how to get the annoying piece of **** of m computure as its driving me mad![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Thanks in advance.
Kam

I thought that the Windows XP SP2 firewall stopped the messenger service popups? ![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
You should also scan your machine with Ad-aware from Lavasoft. There is a free version that is very good![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Also, make sure that you have enabled Spybot's immunisation feature. That will protect you from a lot of bugs.

It does, well actually it was SP2 that turned off the Messenger service by default, rather than the firewall, but the effect is the same.
Assuming you're using XP, use the auto update feature to make sure that your PC is properly patched and have a read of the computer security basics sticky message at the top of this forum![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You can get the MS Antispyware, free from here

I have just updated Noton Internet Secuirty to the "2005 model " and its found two dialers and a folder full of lopdotcom programs , all of which Microsoft Anti Spyware, Spybot Search an Destroy, Adaware and various other spyware tools failed to find , so for me £20.00 well spent ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
p.s. the 2004 N.I.S. failed to find any of these as well
