I've been trying to run the error checker (Scan Disk) on the C drive my PC, but it keeps restarting, after 10 attempts I get a message claiming that its bacuse another program is writing to Windows. I've tried turning Norton Internet Security and antivirus off and running it, but no joy.
Any other suggestions as to whatmight be causing the problem?
Cheers,

If so your best rebooting the PC into Safemode, this way you will have no background programs interupting the Scandisk.
Or restarting the PC into command prompt mode and typing at the c:>_ scandisk c: (Then press enter)
To get into either of these:
1).. Reboot your PC
2).. After the screen that shows RAM HDD etc.. has disapeared off the screen keep pressing the 'F8' key and then you should see a text menu with numbers to press by them. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
