XBOX360 Review Thread - Comments and feedback in here please
Just to keep any comments from you guys that have managed to get hold on one, in a single place.
Havent really got time to type much (too busy on the XBOX360 ), but first REAL impressions are very good. Only looked at PGR3 at present, but it looks and plays absolutely brilliantly. The graphical detail is brilliant (if you have a 360 but dont have a Hi-Def screen.... GET ONE NOW!) in 720p & 1080i modes!
The replays in Hi-Def mode are just sublime!
Build quality is good, design is good, pad's are very hand friendly. The only downside at present is the slightly louder noise of the unit.
Still need to get XBOXLIVE up and running and try the other games I have, but very impressed so far.
Regards,
Shaun.

I have just spoken to SammyH who is currently playing it on a normal TV at work and he just said that it is better than the XBOX in a comparable game. Don't forget that the Hi-Def gives better resolution and clarity, but does not stop the better graphical effects of the XBOX360 being displayed.

Shaun.

Just had a quick bash on Need For Speed - Most Wanted in Hi-Def. Again, this is graphically head and shoulders above the XBOX version.... unfortunately it seems to have slight stutter occasionally, but I suspect that is what happens when the developers don't have the time to optimize the code for launch... doesnt detract from the gaming though in this instance.
Tidgy,
Aparrantly this has been down to over heating (so I have heard), but has been put down to people not giving the xbox360 enough space to breathe.

Thanks Shaun. I wanted to wait for the PS3 to come out and compare the difference but was told yesterday that the European launch for PS3 wont be until January 2007 Japan is in May 2006 and US in October 2006. Don't think I can wait a whole year for PS3! I was also under the impression that on a normal TV the 360 would only be marginally better than the original xbox so wanted to wait and see what people said.
Also are there decent 28" and bigger HDTV's out there that don't cost a grand or more and if so what the cheapest good one?

Well been home at dinner and given it a proper test drive rather than last nights half ar$ed attempt whilst knackered after queuing for 7+ hours....
Controller is superb, fits snugly in the hand and no wires = no dog pulling the console from the AV unit or the controller from my hands across the room
graphics on COD2 is pretty smart, really do like it. got into COD2 now and fancy keeping it just for this game and eventually get it online The sound is good too, really do like it actually, hmm lets hope I sell a car on Sunday cause then I can afford to keep it

Loving the demo downloads in the Xbox live marketplace, just downloaded a demo of Kameo - great idea to allow people to test games prior to buying them...
USB functionality works very well, streaming my playlists from my Ipod whilst driving round in PGR3 is cool. USB keyboard works well whilst sending messages.
The more I use it, the more it impresses me.... a very clean/tidy package....

think the iPOD plugs straight into the xbox via USB and you use the consoles desktop to set up your own tunes etc really smart....

Bravo,
I'm sure you can get one cheaper elsewhere, but Curry's sell a very nice Samsung 27" LCD which has all the Hi-Def connections on it. I'm sure it was only £700 (but I could be wrong and it could of been £800). Picture was very nice.

Shaun.

Also....
Just played Quake4 on the XBOX360...... obviously it's the same gameplay as the PC version, and the graphics are as good as my top end PC, that requires a £350 graphics card to produce the same results! lol

So far, only played PGR3 - brilliant!! blows my old xbox away.
One thing though - HOW BIG IS THE PSU!!! !!!!!
The guys in Game handed me the bag, and I nearly droppped it!!
Can only echo that the controller is excellent, as is the build quality of the entire machin. The Interconnects look built to last too
Will have a quick blast on Condemned in a sec, along with setting up the XBox Live setup (I'm a newbie - used to use my chipped Box on XBC )

Mogsi,
You should see your xbox as another entity in Windows Explorer if all is connected up properly.
Dan,
I have just setup XBOX LIVE as my previous XBOX was never used on it. I didnt know what the hell I was supposed to do, but it only took about 10 mins. Just had a blast on PGR3 on-line.... that was a great laff, even if I did feel a bellend with the headpiece on!
regards,
Shaun.

OK I must be missing something, I can stream music/Images from the PC onto the Xbox so I know that the Windows Media Connect is installed correctly on the PC.. But I can't see/ping the Xbox from the PC...!!!

Yeh - took a while to set up XBox Live
Had to reset my MSN stuff
The OS gives much more info and feedback - especially when testing the network
My other problem had been that I'd forgotten all of my manual IP setup details (got the gateway wrong )
Got my XBox Live Gold for free for the 1st month (my GamerTag is ScoobyDoo555) - will have to see if I use it.
One thing I REALLY like is that you don't have to get up to turn the console off (just hold down the central "X" button) - TOP idea!!! Now I just need to train my kids to CAREFULLY put the game in in the first place!!
Gonna try Condemned later (when the kids have gone to bed - 18-rated game)
Still impressed

Mogsi,
I had a similar thing - no Ping.....
Ended up in Network (on the Xbox) just checking my settings (IP, Subnet & gateway to my router)
Once I amended the Gateway, it worked fine....
HTH

don't know mate was thinking that y'day when I checked mine, I was going to delete all the music and videos that M$ have put on it to see if that made any difference but didn't get round to it
