... and very nice it is too.
I need to go out and buy some white trousers and a Mini Cooper to complete the Metrosexual look.

Intel. Setup was sooo easy and after a couple of hours I now have all my media and applications that I used to use on my PC moved over - MSN, Skype etc. Just Google Earth to go. Oh and I have to plug in my iPod, see how that likes it. Loving it so far.

Jack, is your iPod PC or Mac format? If it's PC then you might find it a bit slower in iTunes as it'll be FAT32 rather than HFS+ format. If you plan on moving between PC and Mac then it might be best to keep it FAT32 (unless you want to fork out for something like MacDrive). If you have all the music on the Mac already then just restore the iPod and copy the music back on, otherwise, use something like Podworks to copy the music from the iPod onto the computer, then restore it and then add the music back on.
Just been playing with Google Earth, it's rather nice, not sure if it's a universal binary though, if it is, then it'll scorch along. One downside of the Mac version though is that the subscription modes are supported yet

I copied my music from my PC to my Mac, imported it into iTunes then plugged in the iPod. All worked fine, but then iTunes spotted an update for my iPod which would only work for Mac format drives, so I factory reset my iPod and loaded the tunes again at at least twice the speed.
The speed on Google Earth is totally acceptable, but not blazing so I'm thinking it's not universal yet. Shame about the subsription modes, I like to download tracks from my GPS, I can wait.
Quick off topic question, what are the drive looking things that appear on my desktop when using MSN Messenger and Skype? I can't seem to do anything with them and can delete them once I close the applications, but they come back again.

jack what you do is drag the application inside the drive to your applications folder then eject and delete the drive.
Thats how you install stuff on your mac![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

When you download an application, some of them are disk image files. Safari usually automatically mounts these, hence the drives on the desktop. You can sometimes run the apps from the drives, as you have been able to do, but as matt said, it's best to drag the application icon into your applications folder, then simply right click on the drive icon and select "eject".
The drive won't come back again unless you double click on the disk image file to mount it.

Mmm, iTunes has hung twice now. Most likely doesn't like MSN, Skype or Google Earth. Bit of a black mark on an otherwise white system.

I'll give that a try later, thanks for the link, it'll be handy that's for sure.
The problem with iTunes - which reports as not responding, and requires a hard reset of the Mac - goes away if I pull my iPod out of the dock! Most strange!!

OK, that's a third generation iPod then. What version of iTunes are you running? Latest is 6.0.2. I've not heard of your specific problem though. Have you tried force quitting iTunes (Go to the Apple Menu, select "Force Quit" then select iTunes).
Have a peek at macintouch.com and macfixit.com and see if there is any mention of your problem, or mention of problems with 10.4 and firewire drives.

Tried that and it wasn't having any of it. Just sat there. Holding the power button for a while was the only way out, well until I found out about undocking the ipod. Thanks for the links, I'm sure they'll come in handy.
One more thing whilst I'm here, is there any way to resize .jpg's? Looks like that function's another thing I have to download and probably pay for.

You could probaly go into System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts and change the option for Close Window from command + W to Escape.
