Netgear ADSL modem/router - loose connections
My wife has been sent an ADSL modem/router made by Netgear for work use to share our ADSL connection. All works fine, but using a few different Cat 5 cables they plug home but move back and forth a little too much in the sockets on the router and disconnect very easily so it is a temperamental connection.
She emailed her IT support and they said "they are all identical, if one has a problem they all will". She is sending it back and I have to reconfig to use the old USB modem and her on dial up again as they won't send out another
All the networks in offices everywhere would grind to a halt if connectors were this haphazard.

There's always a little give in RJ45 connectors, but should never be loose enough to disconnect equipment.
Get her to tell their IT support that if they all do it, then they're all cr@p ... or get them to use wireless ones instead. I've always used Linksys or Belkin and never had any real issues with those.

Shock horror, IT admitted it wasn't user error and replaced it
Maybe they get paid £100k a year to plug things in and see if the LEDs flash when they wiggle it ?
