Laptop problem! Help need!

Laptop problem! Help need!
I have a friend who has a asus laptop (no idea what model!) during a power cut it shutdown and wont restart now... whats the most likely problem? the ac power is working and the charge light is lit, but nothing else happens...
Any answer would be appreciated!

take the battery out and charger off for a good 1/2 hour or longer and than try it !, fingers crossed it may work because some laptops go in a half state sleep mode when the power turns off after a power cut.
