Bought myself an Xbox 360 today with a couple of games. PGR3 (of course) and Elder Scrolls, these should keep me busy for a while
So far very impressed. Even got on line with PGR3 for a online race which is very cool
Anyway, had a couple of choices of what to connect it too:
42inch Plasma (living room)
20inch dell Widescreen monitor (bedroom)
In the end I decided on the Plasma as I could then hook it upto my home cinema and get the 5.1 audio too. So question is....I bought the HD lead as both the TV & monitor are compatible but not sure whether to connect it up via DVi or RGB to get the best pic quality, would need a convertor to go DVi so before I buy one is there any difference??
Anyone up for a PGR3 battle later????? Not that I'm any good
Cheers
Dave

Did you not get the premium xbox with the hd lead included?
The lead provided is composite (some call it RGB, but it's actually Y,U,V), I'd say use that as opposed to converting it to DVI, as any conversion would cause a slight drop in quality.

I actually bought the VGA HD lead as I'm a bit short on space with sockets on the TV and I can then plug it directly into the monitor via VGA or DVi.

Explore,
DVI and RGB is not the same connection.
DVI is digital and RGB is anologue.
Dave,
Since you are using the VGA lead for your xbox, you would be better off using the d-sub (VGA connector) on your screen. Keeping apples with apples (analogue to analogue) would be best in this case.
Regards,
Shaun.

Bearing in mind my Plasma isn't HD is there any better method of connecting it to the X Box? Or all the connections I can use all very similar? It's a great picture anyway but can this be improved on? I think an HD LCD is in the pipeline though...Prolly for the bedroom

Dave,
Since youre screen is not HD, it will all be down to the quality of youre screens inbuilt scaler. All sets are different in reality and what may be better for one set may not be as good for another. If you have component input, you could always try the HD Component lead (from MS) as well to compare. The picture will most certainly be different, but it all depends on what your set and your eyes prefer.![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
No fast and hard rule I am afraid.

Shaun.

Another question for ya....I tried the component lead that came with the 360 and did think there was a slight improvement in quality and also the colours looked richer & more vibrant BUT the screen isn't centred, it's set of to the right with a black bar down the left taking up about 1/8th of the screen...Any idea's??
