APPLE you tossers, next time you decide to stop making, shipping any xserves in this country and then have a fecking huge gap before the intel one, can you have the decency to let us know in advance so we dont look like complete idiots in front of our clients...******** !!
Take my orders and then dont deliver...

Bloody Hell! Have to say I'd not seen that until you mentioning it Rich!

There were rumors that a 23" iMac might be released at the event on the 12th Sept, but I'd not seen anything indicating an earlier update to the range.

I think the Sep 12th event will announce full length movies on iTMS and an update to the iPod range, seems to be rumors of an updated iPod Nano, and also possibly larger capacity 5G iPods.

Got to say that with an extra DVI slot for desktop expansion this is a damn good upgrade to the G5.....
Just a shame about not being to run classic anymore BUT I do have a B&W should that unlikely event arise.....
Damn it, I want a Macbook too!

So its just the iPod touch screen video phone to come then

Are you trying to make me throw up, mentioning Classic without a warning

The DVI output is v handy, got the iMac running a second screen at the moment and very handy it is too. Bit of a step down from the three monitor setup I had on the old G4 Tower though

Well summed up Tony. The transition has been messy to say the least with order that cannot be fulfilled. Grrrr

ditto the above comments.

Problem with a 24" iMac is, that clients will not see why they should invest in a Mac Pro + 23" display for a lot more money..

Agreed, too much blurring of the boundaries between pro-users and pro-sumer machines. We really need Quark t bring out the full version of 7.0 Universal although its only a small base of customers really using this what we really need is all the Adobe applications which is a year away ! It might help if Apple and the software vendors were a bit more proactive in letting people know about the universal version and the speed increases.

We've already seen a big decrease in PowerMac sales over the last year and a big swing towards the iMacs. At one stage eMacs were flying out the door.

We've already had some customers considering dropping Macs completely but thats mainly in the newspaper industry where Apple are fighting a rear guard action anyway.

Who do you work for then Marklemac ?

I'm an indepedent reseller

Universal Apps. Yep, constantly getting clients complaining about the speed of photoshop and powerpoint.

Quark 7 - great, but the take up of this program is slow, probably down to Quarks yet again greed for money.

I can't see any reason (apart from money) why Adobe can't recompile Photoshop for the intel chip. Just look at these shareware/freeware boys who recompiled over night yet the giants drag their feet just so they can badge the app as new version...

Adobe are not willing to waste development time on a Universal stop gap when the new versions of the creative suite are well under way. When they do appear the universal versions will ahve had the normal enhancements to them.

Just between you and me ( and the rest of scoobynet) I sense quite a rift between Adobe over the lack of heads up they were given by Apple.

Adobe aren't the only one who were a little miffed when the Intel machines were released in January It was thought that the next WWDC was probably going to be when the machines were actually shipped, so devs would have had a full year to get things up and running.

My guess is that Apple assumes that the Pro types would wait for the Pro desktops before switching, so not too much of a worry if CS and XPress weren't Universal from the get-go.

Yeah thats the problem they will wait but want to wait for the software not the hardware !

Thats said it really is only the Adobe stuff thats the problem. Quarks share of the market feels likes its going south rapidly.
