I've got a Dell Latitude D505, it has an integrated wireless card (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network connection).
I've brought it to my parents where they have a Belkin Router. I haven't used any CD-ROMs or anything to set it up. I've managed to get to the stage where a bubble appears on the bottom right (near the time) that says I'm connected and signal strength is excellent.
When I go in to internet explorer, the DNS error message appears and I can't connect to the internet????
Anybody help me out there!!!???

I take it the router is set-up for DHCP? If s,o have set you're Network card up to except DHCP? In other words have you got the DNS set to be DHCP? As it sounds as though you have the IP set-up.

As long as the router is open i.e not set to only allow certain mac address's to connect through the router ,it should work. Is the adsl light on the router/ modem green ? go into the belkin router setup and see if your computer is should in the list of computers .
When you right click on wireless connection and open view wireless conections does it show a good connection or limited ?
I have a sony with the same wireless card and a belkin 128 adsl / router .

Of course there is a conflict - the other PC is already using those settings.
You can't have two DHCP assigned IP's for different machines.
Question - do you normally use wireless bb when at home? If not, it could just be your internet explorer settings are set to dial a connection.
Have a look at ipconfig /all from cmd.exe and check all your settings are present and correct.
Failing that just run the belkin set up cd on your lappy - then at least you can see what's going on.

OK, thanks for all your help!
I rang Belkin and they have sorted it. I had to run msconfig or something and a little black box appeared. I had to 'ping' some numbers in and hey presto.................it worked!
Took it back to school today to connect via a LAN cable and my school internet doesn't work now! Doh!
Any ideas guys????
