Default Laptop battery question

I've got a Compaq Evo laptop and up until last week it's been fine. The battery would last at least 2 hours (enough to watch a film playing on the dvd drive). However, without changing anything on the laptop last week it now seems the battery won't hold it's charge. I'm using it now and it says the battery is 48% full but will only last 22mins!?

Is the battery fecked? are they like mobile phone batteries that have a limited amount of times you can recharge them before they turn to useless lumps of plastic? Is there anything I can do to 'refresh' the battery?

Cheers
Matt

Hello

I don't know the technical details, but generally the batteries of laptops just tend to die after a period of time. It is very irritating as they are extremely expensive to replace.

Goosed.

I had a similar problem with my Compaq. It's now gone but I have a battery here which I can't remember is the old or new one.

It's for use with the PP2040 series, part no. 153922-B21.

It's up to you if it fits and you want to have a shot. I'd only want P&P.
