Question Xbox error - 07 - help

Hi,

My Xbox (not 360) has just died! When I switch it on, I can hear the hard drive clicking very loudly (didn't do that before), then after a few attempts to get past the bios XBOX screen, it displays the following message in English, repeated in multiple languages below:

"your xbox requires service. Please call Xbox customer support"

There's an error code too: '07'.

At this point, the DVD eject button is flashing green and red.

I understand that this means the hard drive has died, so I'll need to get a new one, which means I'll need to get my Xbox chipped - can anyone tell me how easy it is to do and where I could get the parts?

I don't want to get an Xbox360 just yet...
Thanks.

It's not too hard. Get an X3 chip from www.divineo.co.uk and see www.team-xecuter.com for instructions

Good luck

I've had a look at the Xbox section of divineo.co.uk, but I can't see any actual chips for sale.

Should I be looking at the Linux Loading section? The X-Programmer 2.6?

Sorry, but I know nothing about modding!
Cheers.

its quite simple, if you can solder. The chip just plugs into your board... I dont see why you need to chip it though?? just throw an old PC hard drive in there

I read that you need to chip it, otherwise the hard drive won't be recognised.

Apparently, you can't just get a hard drive and install it.

Thanks for the info.

It looks like I have a temporary reprieve anyway, as it's started working again.
Question is...for how long???
