no video input?

Have you changed drivers or changed the refresh rate in the video settings?
Does it happen when you go into windows or as soon as you turn the machine on?
Have you tried booting in safe mode?

If you have acces to another monitor, then it will be worth trying it out on that to see if it is the video card or the monitor that is the problem.
The other thing you can do is open up the PC and check that the videocard is sitting properly in the slot (if you have a video card that is, and not a chip on the motherboard), it is rare, but they have been known to unseat them selves occasionally - The fact it was flashing black yesterday may suggest a loose connection somewhere.
