Dont really want to format my hard drive, and dont have a spare pc to use at the moment
I know I can upgrade from XP to Vista, but does anyone know if I can uninstall, ie roll back to XP, or install it as a dual boot so I can play around with it

You can but its a proper nightmare to do with one drive even with partition magic.
It would be better to borrow a small drive and do a seperate install and bios change the boot at startup IMO

If it goes t*ts up Ill just have to rebuild it with XP again, give me something to do in the day

Hadnt really thought of vmware, but yes speed and memory would be the main issues with that, and not sure if Vista is supported under vmware at the moment

From what I've read Vista has a different boot loader setup from XP, it seems to ingore the boot.ini file, it's been replaced with some BOOT folder at the root of the disk.
So you could probably get both running on the same partition, but if you then remove Vista it's a bit of a pain to get things back to normal
