Has anyone d/l'ed it yet. I have, and I quite like the newer slightly more stylish look.

still takes TOOOOOOO LOOOONNNGG to load up. Seems ok but freezes once I plug ipod in. After 10 secs or so all is fine and it see's the ipod. i.e. while it's initially communicating etc.

My PC is old but not that old, 768mb ram, 1.5Ghz P4 etc.

it is a bit resource hungry TBH on a pc. On a mac it just works flawlessly

if you need itunes on a pc, unfortunately you have to live with it..or get a mac and enjoy the fun instead ......

Works fine on my pc. No slow at all. Don't like it as much as iTunes 6 though.

For a start, you can no longer display the album list at the top of the page when looking at the stuff stored on the ipod. Means you have to search through the whole song list to find what you want instead of just clicking the album name. Very annoying...

Never used it before until wednesday when i got a pod.

bllody useless, awful front end, p*ss poor instructions, no easy way to do any thing, always wants to take control of the pod, Sloww as f*ck and a pile of poo, once again its software ***** waving. I didnt ask for quicktime to be installed and yet i got it. when will sw companies learn that if we want there products we will buy or ask for them, not have them foisted on us in an attempt to have brownie/ rating points.

cant wait to buy the alternate one thats drag and drop!

But how hard is it to plug in, wait 5 minutes then it's all updated. Why faffle around "dragging and dropping".

At first when I started using it, I wondered about this and that, wanted to drap/drop etc. (which you can do, e.g. if you've a nano or suchlike, just drag songs to the ipod and it's on.) but now living with it, it's piece of ****. Just plug in and it automatically copies all new/updated to my 60gb ipod. Can't get any easier than that.

I do agree it's slow to load and I rather without the quicktime crap. Just be grateful it doesn't have SW like the sony which is really crap.

If you don't like it ultimately, that's fine however you can't deny the ease of use, that's exactly why it's so popular. Plug it in, wait for it to update and off you go. No wasting time trying to find what you've changed etc. and copying over etc.

That's no use for people like me who don't use it like that though. I just have ripped cds on my ipod (i.e. my cd collection) which I listen to in the car or in the office. I've never bought anything from itunes, and I don't keep anything on my pc. If I want to listen to an album at home, I'll stick the cd in. It's better quality than aac.

The new itunes seem a definite step backwards in usability.

its fine if thats what you want to do, but i dont want every bit of music i have on my pc dumped onto my pod. Ease of use?? how do you quantify that one? ease of use is choice, offering the user the option of how and when, not its this way or very difficult. I want to set my music collection in certain ways, and i want to be able to review it quickly and choose what i want to do. For me its a pain in the !!

but each to there own

Mart,
You can change the sync in iTunes to manual and that will prevent all of the music on the PC being put on the iPod.

I spent saturday afternoon cursing iPods / iTunes / Apple to high heaven, as it has been messing about something stupid when I plug my iPod into my PC.

Turned out to be none of the above... it seems the iPod does not like being plugged into the USB socket on the front of my computer.

I think itunes functionality is because it started life on the mac which has an ethos of doing everything for the user. For me I love it as it just does what it says on the tin, nothing more nothing less but I can understand if thats not the way you want to do things you're stuck.

John.
Had that one too. My usb ports are all 1.1 so would work sloooow. Then bought a 4 port usb 2 pci card but it weren't a good one and would sieze up itunes etc. Just bought a new 2+1 port usb 2 card (belkin) and everything now working fine and dandy.

Problem is these problems don't highlight themselves on basic devices (keyboards, mice, printers, cameras etc.) but do on something more substantial like an ipod, hdd etc.

I've not noticed any useful new features.

It just seems like they've dumbed it down and made it less usable to me. Anyone got any idea where I can re-download itunes 6?

I like the CD artwork flipthrough - it does seem to show some albums more than once although setting the CD as a compilation usually sorts it.

It only works for stuff on the pc though. You can no longer flip through albums stored on your ipod.

Snap. When i had my old Toshiba Laptop, with only 2usb ports, brought one of these splitters. The Ipod got the right hump and spat it's dummy out.
Either get a computer with a decent amount of usb ports.....or get a Mac

This from Macfixit.com

Delete the following files:

The iTunes 7.0 application (located in /Applications)
com.apple.iTunes.plist (from ~/Library/Preferences)
iTunes.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
iTunesX.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
Then use the iTunes 6.0.5 (or earlier) installer.

You could just try trashing the aforementioned files and then re-run the iTunes 7 installer and see if that fixes your issues.

Nope. My issues are the features that they've removed from itunes 7 that were in itunes 6. I don't think any amount of re-installing itunes 7 would fix that

Got the old one reinstalled now
