Had a quick look on Google but nothing of interest...
Does anyone know of any programs which will monitor if applications are running on a pc and either re-run them if they close, or at least notify us? Don't particularly want to have to make it lol

Couple of ways you can do it but I've used this program in the past:
http://www.serverdoc.com/
Mainly used it to keep counter-strike servers running, but it works for any app. Has some nice features like it wont hang if the app errors with a dialog box waiting for user input (a big problem with CS:S) and a web interface so you can check/restart it remotely.
