One of the options in my website settings is the ability to set the width in pixles. I like the look of my site when it sits in the center of the screen, rather than filling the whole monitor up.

Default is 780px, is this still the norm for today's surfers? Are the majority still viewing at 800x600?

Most are 1024x768 but most fixed-width websites are still designed for 780px.

760 wide is better to allow for different browsers.
