Hi
Im assuming you have windows xp? If so have a read here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308417/
That should explain how to alter the size. It is related to the size of your memory, on install of the xp it typically sets the virtual memory on the hard drive to 1.5 times the ram. After a while the more applications or software you install/ run the less sufficient the size is. Increase it as the article describes and should cure your problem but to be honest if you are on xp i would stick another 512 of memory as well.
By the way its a common problem
A good piece of software that manages alot of this sort of problem for you is winxp manager
