Probably going to opena can of worms with this one but here goes...

I use an iPod with iTunes and all the music I've imported myself has been to 320 AAC and the stuff I've downloaded has been as low as 128 MP3 if unavoidable...

I'm thinking of recoding everything to FLAC - but at present iTunes doesnt support this although according to Wikipedia the iPod does

One of the reasons for going the FLAC route is due to it being lossless, you can (apparently) recreate a CD from it - which is why there are so many FLAC torrents knocking about - and I like having a hardcopy of everything so this is a pluspoint for me.

I've read that Apple is planning to incorporate FLAC into itunes - is this true?

Any good torrent sites for FLAC albums? And whats the easies way to create a CD from one?

When I first started using iTunes I used the AAC type on all on my music.

Now changed back to MP3 for ease of sharing etc.

Can't say I've noticed a change in anything.

FLAC sounds quite good,but will it be the new benchmark like MP3 was all those years ago?

I was same as you originally - originally had my stuff at 128 AAC when I didnt know any better - reimported everything a while later at 192 MP3 for ease of sharing (Ipod, PSP, Phone, XBox 360) but all 4 of those now support AAC and I personally think its the better codec. however, I'm a fussy bugger and want my digital music as good as it can be so I'm opting for lossless.

I know Apple lossess is open to me but does anyone know the difference between this and FLAC? Can Apple lossless files to used to recreate CD's?

Pretty sure the only way to get the ipod to play flac is by putting a different firmware on it. rockbox for example.
