I want to display the contents of the DVI monitor on a projector, so i have bought a DVI-I male to 2x DVI-I female Splitter and connected it up. It only works when both ports are connected to a dvi monitor, if i don;t have a dvi monitor connected to both ports on the splitter then i get nothing out at all!

Same thing if i have one connected to the monitor and one connected (via a dvi to vga cable) to the projector. Nothing comes on either!

IF i plug the projector direct into the back of the pc it works fine.

This is really miffing me, i thought the cable was just a Y splitter. The suppliers think it should work.. but i've got 4 and no joy with any of them.

Any ideas?
