Default Excel 2000

Hi

Have some data in a column, which I need to alter.
eg “24 / 22”, “20 / 18” etc. What I would like to do is copy the first two digits into another separate column. Then copy the last two digits into another separate column. There must be an easy way to do this in excel?

I have tried looking at Marco’s but I think this is cell reference dependant?
ie if I start recording it records the cell that I am in and therefore I cannot replay the Marco on another cell. Also it would not cater for different numbers?

TIA

Buck

Say you had the "24 / 22" in A1, the formula =LEFT(A1,2) would give you "24" and =RIGHT(A1,2) would give you "22".

HTH.

Or use the text to columns wizard (Data - Text To Columns) using the / as the delimiter.

John, I didn't mention some are single digit but works fine for 2 pairs of double digits.

DJ Dunk, spot on, caters for single and double digits.

Thank you both for your help.
