Is there an easier way of recovering/resetting an admin password on a win2k machine, bar using one of these bootable CD's to show or change the password? Can't use safemode either as the login box popups there to.
I changed the work domain on a lappy to connect to my home workgroup (LAN), as I needed to transfer some files quickly, this of course needed a restart. And now when I bootup I get the standard windows login box, and not the domain login for work

Windows XP Login Recovery - Window password recovery within minutes.
This site provides a tool to recover lost Windows passwords. It works for administrator and user accounts, it doesn't change the password just tells you the old one. It works with encrypted files (EFS) and password hashes. It even works if no passwords at all are known for the machine (as long as you have another computer with internet access to view this website with).
You need a floppy disk to run it
It works on 2k too by the way

Without wanting to sound stupid... what will you do once you have the admin password?
You won't be able to rejoin your work domain (if that's what you're hoping to do) without a connection to the domain and username/password with the necessary permissions (local admin won't be sufficient). You won't be able to recover access to your domain login...
Not having a dig... just pointing it out in case you weren't aware![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
