This is my pc spec and seems to be the defacto standard to stand any chance of running at very high settings.
INTEL CORE 2 QUAD PRO Q6600
TEAM XTREEM 4GB DDR2 PC2-8000C5 1000MHz
TITAN AMANDA TEC FAN
ASUS P5K DELUXE MOTHERBOARD
BFG GEFORCE 8800 GTX OC2 768MB
32" TOSHIBA REGZA 32WLT66 HDTV LCD
250GB SAMSUNG SPINPOINT SATA2
1000W ENERMAX GALAXY PSU
18X SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER SATA DVD
COOLERMASTER CM STACKER CASE
WIN VISTA ULTIMATE
Im running at 1280x720 very high settings 4xaa and all is very well.
I found having to attack very different to other fps but im quickly adapting to it.

8800 640GTS stock
2GB
1680X1050 8AA
Mid to high 20s FPS according to fraps.
Its so cool cutting down trees with a machine gun.

Well apparently there is quite a difference in high/very high so id give it a shot.
My cpu is at stock as crysis can multi thread anyway so no point, my gtx is the limiting factor which is a bfg oc2 about 626/2000.
I'll bump the aa up a bit more, oddly at 2x it seemed to run slower than 4x go figure.

Runs great on mine : X2 4200 @ 2.5Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 8800GTS 640Mb graphics. On high settings too. Superb game, can't wait for the full version. Hope the multiplayer element is good too. Almost tempted to install Vista for all the DX10 goodies but I think I'll wait.

Been playing the demo
Oh my god, I just had a SEMINAL moment in my game playing life - the beautiful transition from night into dawn, as you walk through the jungle into the cliff-top clearing overlooking the radar base. The music score changes dramtically, and you're rewarded with a stunning sunrise, with light beams escaping through the trees and individual blades of grass.
Respect to Crytek - this is looking great. Thank god I'm running Quad Core with all details maxxed out at 1440 x 900

I'm running a overclocked (to 3.2ghz) dual core, with an 8800 gtx, 2gb ram etc, and couldn't get it running smoothly even at "high" detail levels at 1024x768 ("very high" dropped down to around 5-10fps I reckon). My system exceeds the recommended spec as well. This was using the DX10 Vista version. Even when I did get it running, it just seemed like an average run of the mill fps with a dodgy plot. Fancy graphics do not make a good game on their own. Not impressed.
Not going to spend another couple of grand to be able to play this on the pc. Not really used the pc for games since I got a 360, and I don't think this is going to make me start again...

me neither. stopped playing games on the pc when it quickly became no good yet again for running these high spec games and rather than spend lots keeping up, i got the 360. Will wait till it comes out on that

Just looked at those screenshots from the above link. There are areas of the graphics that look great. Tyre tracks, grass etc. But those rocks that you see, and the shore line itself I have seen a lot of rocks in real life, and have never seen anything like that. You can tell they are just flat textures, pretty disappointing really.
When you consider how much graphics power that is being used, and how much detail is available in certain areas, it does seem lacking in realism

Just got the very high settings working and it looks even better than it did before. It doesn't actually enable DX10 under XP though.
frame rate apparently is lower in vista than XP even with uber spec machines.
IIRC you can't tell the difference after about 26fps anyway. I agree though that some bits look a bit naff whilst others look incredible.
I think its farking awesome!

Hope so. I'm not that bothered though as this game doesn't look anything special in gameplay terms, and I've pretty much given up on pc gaming anyway...

I love the power-ups - big jumps, cloaking, etc... the demo definitely made my mind up - I'm having this!
Spoilt for choice soon - COD4, Bioshock (out but I haven't had time to buy it) and Crysis. And to cap it all off I think I need to buy, (gulp) that new Simpsons game, which looks a scream

Not a lot at the moment, (too busy with work and stuff). I am working through PGR4, but can only take it in small doses. Finished Bioshock and Halo 3 recently. I enjoyed Bioshock, but Halo left me a little cold, and it was all over too quickly. Might go back and play it on legendary one day...
