Default router any computer buffs???

What is the best way of connecting a router to an old compaq computer with no ethernet port? 1)Buy a new computer 2)Get an ethernet card fitted 3)Someone suggested I could get an adaptor to fit the ethernet cable into the modem... but won't it run slower on broadband through the old modem/???? Any one know ???Thanks

Assuming the computer has PCI slots (unless it about twenty years old) then a PCI network card is all you need. That and a cat5e ethernet cable (not crossover). Card should be about £10.

what he said , unless you have usb, and the router is wireless, in which case get yourself a usb wireless adaptor. will be slower than ethernet though
