Anyone been gaming today then? What sort of times are people getting on the WRC Challenge.
Need to check out the competition to see if I have the slightest chance of winning that EVO 6....
For the record, my best so far, a low 6:12er. Can't be too specific...
Cheers

Im running times of around 6.27 and so a long way off the pace, although there are 1,000 people slower than me.Does having a manual gearbox make it faster and also the handbrake has no effect(logitech wheel)..........

Mog,
I'm using the Logitech wheel as well and my handbrake does
not work either. Using automatic transmission and best times
just below 06:10. I learned that it's the way you drive the
hairpins that makes the biggest difference.

Nope, gearchange paddles don't work either.
I have no idea what's the problem. I already had the steering
wheel exchanged in the shop because I thought that was faulty.
They tried in in the shop and it worked but gave me a new one
neverheless. And the gearchange paddles don't work with this
one either...
Anyway I think I could not get any better with manual gears. I'm
having trouble getting consistent times. If you try the stages one
at the time in time trial mode you see where you are loosing time
compared to the record. Very useful in trying to figure out what
you are doing wrong.

I would imagine that the manual gears would have a similar advantage as they do in GT3. Also, I'm convinced that you need the handbrake to get round the hairpins effectively - just like the real thing!
I use the sticks on the controller, with the steering on the right (like a model car transmitter). Makes the handbrake difficult to use as it's on the same side as the steering. I wish WRC had the programmable buttons like GT3.
Must get a steerwheel.
Regards
Kurt

Catching..... Got a 6:07:90 now, not posted it yet though.
Just hope the deadline is tonight and not last night.
Still can't see where I can find another 10 seconds. I am right on the limit of my abilities now.
Cheers

I've done a bit of digging, and found how the guys are getting sub 6 minute times.
By cheating
1. Drive at any of the tight corners that have a barrier and turn sharply at the last moment. The car will rebound off in the right direction and you will only loose a little speed. The crappy damage model will only hurt you if you hit it virtually head on.
2. There are a couple of hairpins on the 3rd stage that can be missed completely by jumping over them. Gotta go home and try it but apparently there are nice ramps to use and each one accounts for approx 5 seconds
So much for a fair competition.
Andrew.

Nice one Dan
Will have to get some more practice in later when I get home.
As for the cheating, I thought there might be some going on somewhere. I tried some of those ramps though, kept flipping the car over every time i tried.
Maybe I got the wrong ones....

Cheating it is then!! My best (honest) time 6:16 so far and like everyone else, wondering where I'm going to find 22 seconds!!!
Mind you, all a bit pointless if you can't get onto the p0xy website to register your times!!!!
Any tips for the computer illiterate?

Well that explains the sub 6 minute times then... I'm
still at 06:09 without cheating but that's about to change now.
Oh well, at least they extended the challenge by one day
so I have enough time to find the jumping places. Gotta
try running all the stages backwards and be on the lookout for
suitable ramps on the other side of the ravine.

I have just spent 2 hours jumping but to no avail, my non cheating time is now
6.05.70
are we sure its not a hoax ? when I have landed on the road over the jumps it puts me back where I took off.....

Exhausted...
No way the jumps are going to work. Tried so many times and
always ended up back to same place where went off the road.
But after some good old trying got times down to 06:07.84.
Still with automatic gears and no handbrake.
Stage times from above run for comparision:
1:51.66
1:16.92
2:59.26
I have done better times on all 3 stages but always screw up
somewhere when running all of them.

Hi Guys,
I didn't make this up, I promise
Got the info from the rather long thread here
http://team.sports.com/en/forums/For...000399-34.html
I too could not get the jumps to work, so maybe it is a bit of a red herring.
My best time is now 6:14, although if I could take my three best individual runs over the three stages it would be 6:11
Not that it matters as the site is still FUBAR'ed
Andrew.

Thumbs down for the website that does not work and for the
entire SCEE where nobody apparently does any monitoring
on that site whatsoever. It has been giving "500 internal
server error" already for the past few hours. You'd think
they would check every now and then that the site works,
especially given the problems during the past weekend.
Set my alarm clock early today just to register my best time
but can't because of this.

On the final stage, final split after the downhill hairpins there is a long 1 left followed by a 4 right and 5 left, then nearly straight to the finish. If you go left at the end of the crash barrier instead of taking the right you can skip the two corners. If you hit it just right you land back on the road flat out. (Took about 20 goes to get it) It saves at least 5 seconds on the last split. It does work. I can't find the other 'alleged' jumps though!!!!!!

Can't touch this time mate. I wonder though, maybe no poxy jumps but do you arrive on the finish line with scratches and dings on all 4 quarters at the finish line Must be leaning on the barriers somewhere.
If not, we're not worthy....
