Hi all just started on COD4 and would be greatful if you could give a newbie your top tips for online play.

easy mate KILL KILL KILL it's wicked online better than the single player mode what console you playing it on?

Just play, you will get better and pick up tips as you go along.

 

what level are u upto online? play loads of free for all or the domination games and get used to the levels n find out some good hidin places, and build up ur xp coz u get all the unlocks. i spend way too much time on there haha one u start u wont be able to stop, well addictive

And ignore the big gob yanks blabbing how good they are and how bad the british are at playing on-line games Seem to get it all the time... But apart from that it's a good game. Can't wait for Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 to come out.

 

the yanks are the best thing about online! they get so into it its quality!

 

Yep depends if you get the ones who are good for a laugh, or the ones I experienced tonight who wanted to take someone out in person Or even the little kiddies who decide to make a noise Anyways it is a good game overall.

been doing the free for all and seem too be getting on quite well. Even came third in one of the games.......well chuffed so far. Bloody eyes are killing me now (should know better at my age(39)

its just a case of keep playin and gettin used to the levels and where ppl hide, also keep playin loads and ur eyes might get used to the abuse!

 

there is a clan on scoobynet, clan tag is SNET in caps my tag name is stwalding,right going online now to kill some yanks

 

are there many clan members yet? should have one of those massive team deathmatch things against a big rival, like ford owners

im addicted to cod4 and love it soooo much but im torn between that and guitar hero :P

 

i like to hide as a sniper and just wait for easy kills

 

Use the radar.
check the killcam to find out where you got shot from (so many people don't move from the spot and are easy prey).
You have 5 slots to modify so there is plenty of options to find out what perks are good for you.
teamwork is the key to virtually all the game modes.

I got this about a week ago on the PC and am a little disappointed with the ranking up process in that it seems far too quick. Ive played about 12hrs online and am rank 38 and I think top one is 55. Good tip is to go for the challenge points on each weapon ie 150 kills or whatever it is then change to a different one. Currently walking around with an M60 complete with red dot site and taking names. Thing is lethal

Play Search and Destroy. Its the quickest way to rank up. You get 50 points per kill instead of 5 or 10 plus match bonus's you can regularly finish each match with 500+ points. You will rank up in no time and get all the cool new weapons and gadgets quicker!!

 

Top level is 55 then you can go into Prestige mode but you will lose everything, then you can go through Prestige 10 times iirc

 

when u reach rank 55 u can opt to choose prestige mode, all it is is when u choose it u have to start right back at the beginning with no weapons or perks but u get a different symbol, im fourth time round which means i obv dont have a life
also heard rumours that if u get red tiger camo on all guns in a certain catagory ie assualt rifles , u unlock a golden weapon ( u get a golden pistol at level 55 ) and i managed to get a golden shotgun one time around, its all about the bling bling haha

 

I've got the Golden pistol ,Ak47,shotgun and m60 working on the sniper rifles.

You have to achieve all the kills and headshots with each weapon per style (i.e. all kills and headshots with the m60,rpd and m249 SAW gets you the golden m60)

Im on lvl 53 going to give it some hammer tonight on the xbox if anyones up for it.

 

Now that is sad. So they dont have the brains to come up with some decent challenges so just get you to do the same stuff 4 times over? LOL

Compare that to Battlefield 2142 which took me about 280hrs online time and around 6 months to get to Brigadier General and still a load of challenges to do (havent played that much recently tho).

there are plenty of challenges basic,killer,operation,humiliation and elite (each with about 15-20 challenges to do and some of them have more then 1 level) but you don't have to do them to gain rank.

 

some of the killer and elite challenges are chuffin hard!! kill an enemy by shooting their c4 thru a wall!! crazy stuff but addictive as anything! not played battlefield, im strictly consoles, pcs just confuse me haha
