Default ASUS eee PC - What are the alternatives?

As my home laptop has given up the ghost, I'm in the market for a laptop to surf the internet with in the living room.

Rather than the full expense of a "proper" laptop, I've had my eye on an ASUS eee PC 900.

I've since read that the 901 will have more features, as well as alternatives such as the MSI Wind.

I don't ready need processing power, I appreciate that memory can be upgraded, and more storage would be good but not essential.

I was looking at a Linux 900 to get more storage and swapping over to XP if the I found the Linux OS limted.

Before I put my hard earnt into either a 900 now or 901 in June, are there any alternatives I should look at?

Cheers
Andy

Perfect for the surfing PC, but I do fancy something with a slightly bigger screen. That said, it's easier to spend £99 than £330!

better CPU (intel atom), better screen (1024 x 768), cheaper (suppose to be).

£199 is good, but the XP one with the HDD is £299, so closer to the MSI Wind in cost. Also the Wind is still winning with the larger 10" screen.

why do you need 80gb of storage for just surfing though ?

The 'cheap' linux one has 2 card slots , one designed to easily have a 8/16G SHDC card permanently installed, and a longer battery life than the equivalent XP version due to the SSD instead of mechanical disk...

I would struggle to see past this for value when it is about the same price as the Asus Eee 900?
