i was going to buy the belkin omnicube to control 2 pcs via 1 mouse,k/board and monitor- as its £100+ i have instead got a much cheaper switch box to do the same job, BUT my monitor pic is now suffering from ghosting (dont know if thats the term but you get the idea!)

would this be cause i've used a cheap switch box or would that happen with the better switch units- or is it a monitor problem???

help!

I was thinking of this, but decided that with the cheaper switch boxes they couldn't support the high resolution that I run on my main PC.

I decided that it would be better to acquire a cheap monitor for occasional use and leave an old keyboard and mouse attached to the second machine.

Probably the cheaper unit IMO. We've used numerous Belkin OmniCubes and at 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 no image quality problems.

Defo due to the switch box .... if you want really good switching kit look at black box stuff ... bit more in cost but good kit.

Ive just been into Maplin's (Leeds) to look at these things.... left when I saw the price of them and decided I could buy a brand new monitor at a cheaper price.

Its most likely the cables!

The ones that come with the kits tend to be useless - go and buy some fully shielded ones.

I'm running 1600x1200 through my Belkin Omni View!!!

My personal experience of the maplin cheapo unit is that it degrades quality massively. Shadows that I couldn't get rid of no matter which cables I used...

Why not use a remote control solution, such as VNC (WinVNC in your case?)

It's like PCAnywhere, but it's free and OS-independent.
