I don't listen to a lot of stuff, but do want it to sound better than it's coming out of a telephone earpiece held six inches from my ear

I have the same z5500 from Logitech. Great sound but make sure to get a later set (newer set). Earlier ones make a 'popping' sound due to static charges and this can be very annoying. I am to lazy to change them to a newer set free of charge.

i will 2nd that , in comet last week there were a pair connected to a laptop , so i crancked the volume right up , great sound crystal clear and loud , the price was £99 .

If you can hold of them, try and get some Videologic Scirroco Spirits. Very very good balanced sound and decently loud too (50RMS).

Ive had mine for more years than I can remember (around 6, maybe longer) and ive had no cause for concern or thoughts about replacements
