Default BT internet

i recently sacked orange as my ISP.
I defected to the above BT.
At first everything was great, any problems i phoned them and it was sorted there and then on the phone.
My internet has been running slow and severing the connection.
I phoned them the other day, after a twelve minute phonecall i recieved a new number to phone along with a pin code. i phoned the number the pin code wasn't recognised.
So i rang again today. another twelve minute phone call passed back and fore between Jeff(not his real name) and his superior whom i could hardly understand.
I get the same network number to call and a PIN. i ring it right away and the PIN isn't recognised again.
Has anyone had the same problem?
BT are on the verge of getting the sack and i'm thinking of going to Sky.
Anyone got any advice???

It's the hub - biggest pile of crap since my last Veg phal incident. Far more painful to experience as well. With rather less screaming and smell I will admit.

Get yourself a decent ADSL router and you'll see a vast improvement. I'm with BT and have been for years and never a problem with connection using my Netgear.

Been with BT, first with dial-up back in 1998 and now on the 8Mb Broadband service. I curently use a Dreytek 2800, and touchwood the reason I stay with them is that I have up-to-now:

- Not had to phone them up for issues
- Had no connection drop outs

But I have known new customers having issues, especially with the customer support.
Had a BT sales guy on the other night trying to flog me an extended contract with a massive saving of £2 a month, and also to sign up to BTVision. Also looking to Sky (no beThere provider in my area) as they offer Broadband etc.. for £10 a month.
