Unix hosting recommendations? - PHP4 MySQL etc
#1
I'm looking into the posiblity of moving my sites soon as my current hosting company are charging me £50 a month.
I need MySQL (60mb database)
PHP4 (and Apache ASP if possible)
I have 10 domains and I'll need 150-200mb space and 25gb monthly bandwidth.
I've just emailed SIWD (Titan), any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Adrian.

Actually £50 a month sounds good value.
We have to pay £52 a month for our website (20MB) and email addresses via Demon. I know it's pricey, but moving is such a pain when your busy, maybe when things are quieter we will do it.
What makes you think £50 is expensive ?
If you find a cheaper (and reliable ISP) for less please post, cos I'll be next in line.
Thanks

Recommend Lee @ http://www.titanhosts.net
Myself and a couple of others get our hosting from him on scoobynet. Servers are very quick.. and tech support is fantastic.
Hos.
(edit- didn't realise you had already emailed... oops , )

Thanks guys.
We took ours out about 4 years ago when we first setup the site.
We've been so busy since I've not realised the prices had dropped so much. I guess that's competition for you.

Thanks for the help guys.
Anyone got hosting in the US? I know bandwidth is cheaper over there and the support offered by http://www.prohosters.com/ looks really good, live help etc and a lot of services included.

These arguments go round and round and round.
Hosting in the US is going to be the cheapest by far. Been there, done that. In fact there is a good discussion going on on bigbytes about it. Cheap servers (ie desktop machines running linux), cheap bandwidth and poor support means you can get a blinding deal at the expense of performance and reliability.
Come into the UK and for max performance, max reliability you have to pay for it. Someone mentioned Ghoulnet - they are way down in the performance stakes and they use Raq machines. Not having a dig just pointing out that lesser = cheaper.
Apart from the odd company who are trying to make a killing on people's ignorance (I still hear for domains being sold for £400!!) most companies are just taking their costprice, adding a margin and calculating their sale price. If they get it cheaper so will you.
You always get what you pay for.
