Unhappy

Got a Lite-on DVD drive with new PC. Recognises CD audio no problem but quite often when I try to load CDRom or DVD it tells me to put disk in drive when already there. Pain in the a**
Any ideas.

Shark - I may be windoze, but at least you don't have to compile your own DVD driver first. unless you're talking Mac....

Al - could be loadsa things - duff drive - duff drivers - scratched or dirty disks - not waiting for the drive to spin up i.e not ready errors. mOre info plz.

More info.
All CD Audio play as normal. No specific CDRom causing a prob as I can use them on my other PC.
Maybe 4 times out of 5 when I try to use a CD/DVD Rom drives lights up, mini disc appears on screen a few times and then nothing. If I try to access the files on the disk I get told no disk in drive.
Then it will fire up as should do on the other 1 out of 5 times. Turning PC off/on makes no difference.
Reason I'm trying to find out is the company I bought the PC with DVD drive from seems to have disappeared as they do not answer phones, email etc. So it looks like I'll have to fork out for another one if mine's sh*gged.
Cheers

Sounds like a duff drive if it's not spinning up properly all the time...
