you could also try flushing the dns by :

Opening a command prompt and entering "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotes)

Could be a DNS issue, as they may have moved servers whilst upgrading, or that could have been the idea behind the upgrade, in which case, as others have said, flush the DNS cache and see if that helps.

It could be it's detecting your IP address and they don't like you so are blocking you.

I can access the site without issues. What you could do is pop over here and pop the url for the forum in the box and see if the site then comes up. It's basically a web based anonymous proxy, so you'll have a different IP address. It doesn't look like they are blocking web based proxies as I was able to at least view the forum listing using it.

Now that was weird, viewed the site from your link and got this...

Will try flushing the DNS and see if that helps.

i wouldn,t start at DNS -- if DNS was an issues it would not resolve Audi-Sport.net, which it is because you are getting an info message from the Audi-Sport.net, so logically it must be connecting to it

a DNS issue would give you a "host not found"

(i am not saying it deffo is not DNS -- but if it is it will be a pretty esoteric DNS problem)

your DNS flush error does look odd though -- but in any case rebooting the PC flushes the DNS cache

my next troubleshooting step would be to access the website from another PC/Laptop but using the same internet connection ( assuming you are going thru a router)

an easy DNS check is to ping it

ping www.audi-sport.net

Pinging www.audi-sport.net [69.64.160.164] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

dont worry about the request time outs as we are not testing connectivity just DNS resolution and as you can see it has resolved it to 69.64.160.164

try putting that into a browser -- http://69.64.160.164 (should get a Tomcat page)

Thanks for helping

I cant access Untitled Document from any computer in the house, that includes 2 laptops and the main PC downstairs, connected wirelessly. Could this be a router problem?

The ping seemed to work fine, 4 packets sent, all received, no time outs and an average time of 152ms

Anything else i can try?

mmmm -- maybe -- coz it is unlikely (but not impossible) that all PC's have the same browser problem -- what version and have you tried firefox etc

I would reboot the router

are you caching old usernames and passwords in your browser

you could try resetting your security options for the internet zone in your "internet options"

Tried Firefox 3.0.11, Google Chrome and IE7 on 3 computers, all with the same error message.

Will try the router reboot next and look into the caching.

Could be an ISP problem? I had this about a year ago where i couldn't get onto one site but every other site was available, I had to change the DNS settings in the router from automatic to ones that the ISP gave me.. all very weird but it did the trick!

Are you logged into the forum? I ask as there is a mod known as "miserable users" for vB and that has various functions:

1. Slow response (time delay) on every page (20 to 60 seconds default).
2. A chance they will get the "server busy" message (50% by default).
3. A chance that no search facilities will be available (75% by default).
4. A chance they will get redirected to another preset page (25% & homepage by default).
5. A chance they will simply get a blank page (25% by default).
6. Post flood limit increased by a defined factor (10 times by default).
7. If they get past all this okay, then they will be served up their proper page.

If you are logged in, your user account may be part of the miserable user group and thus you could be hitting the redirect option mentioned above, plus you could get a server busy message.

I doubt it's that though, as you're probably not logged into the forum and from what I know MU does not work on guest accounts or IP addresses.

Have you tried accessing the site from another PC outside of the network you are using, ideally using the same ISP as you are. That could rule out it being an ISP issue and could point to it being something related to your network setup.

Randomly, ive just typed in the URL manually rather than googling it then clicking the link and it worked.

Not sure if this is a permanent fix or just a one off.

Could the DNS flush take a day or two to take effect?

do you have modified host file -- it maybe blocking the googled link, which will more than likely be taking you to and add/analytics server before it redirect you to the .

easy to spot -- just look at the address bar when you click on the link

Just googled it again and the link now takes me straight to the forum page /vb and works fine. Sounds like it was a DNS error?
