Not a photoshopper myself, but I would reckon that they use Adobe Photoshop Version 6 and 5 maybe??

Cheers,

Not sure what Photoshop elements is.. I think most (including me ) use Photoshop 6, but I think this would cost £500+ to purchase from a shop.

Firm is paying so I don't really care about cost ....I now think that the essentials is an add-on (having thought about what it said on the box)

Cheers for the replies

Elements is the cut down 'consumer' version.

Has less functions but also has some 'one click' things to make it easier for non-pro use.

Thumbs up

All of my editing is done using Macromedia Fireworks - great tool, and easier to use than Photoshop. I do use Photoshop as it has extended usability, but I prefer working with Fireworks.

Talking

Lots of scanners and cameras (certainly Canon, don't know about other makes) come with Photoshop 5.0LE bundled. That's what I use, and it's pretty comprehensive.

As far as I know, Elements is also a cut-down version and it's the cheapest that you can buy on its own.

The full version is expensive - about £500 IIRC - but if you have 5.0LE or Elements then you can get an upgrade for about £100 less. It might even be worth buying, say, a £100 scanner (with 5.0LE included) and upgrading to the full version of Photoshop!

I agree with DW. I really like Fireworks. Excellent software, especially for online based work.

If the company's paying, get ther full version 6. I'd be a bit careful about new versions - Adobe has a knack of leaving some fairly serious bugs in the fist version (like not being able to save a file...). Wait until the 7.0x version is about. Or use 6 - they only get more complicated

have a go, but have no idea what version to get. went into PC world they only had Photoshop Elements (only thick assistants who knew nothing as usual) Is this version any good or should I be looking for a different (better) version Help .....
